"I learnt about ABIA the hard way" Renee and Mark were married in October 2008 on the lovely golf course at Monash Country Club on Sydney's northern beaches. "ABIA helped us plan our wedding day!" Nathan proposed to Elissa over Christmas in 2007 whilst holidaying in Coffs Harbour. When they arrived he took her for a romantic stroll along the beach, where he proposed with a gorgeous ring. "ABIA Awards increased my confidence!" Anna Singleton and Scott Murphy were married on the 19th of September 2009. The ceremony was at the beautiful St Andrew's Church at Lutwyche, chosen because the bride's grandparents were married there almost 80 years ago. Photos were taken at Kangaroo Point, where Scott had proposed 18 months earlier. Afterwards, the reception was held Oxley's on the River at Auchenflower. This was a superb venue with beautiful views, exceptional food and outstanding service. "Our wedding had an elephant theme and in lieu of gifts we asked our guests to donate to our favourite charity, Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for rescued elephants in Thailand, where we'd volunteered in 2007. We had a wonderful night and then spent two weeks honeymooning in Borneo, enjoying the beautiful beaches and amazing orangutans!" said Anna.

What is the ABIA Archives? The ABIA Archives are essentially a database of information about the 5,000 Australian wedding suppliers we receive feedback about each year. We collect the opinions of approximately 6,000 brides annually, and use it to determine who the best suppliers are in each wedding category. From this we are able to hold the ABIA Awards ceremonies in each state and to recognise those wedding designers who have achieved excellence. The system of collecting bridal feedback is of the utmost importance to ABIA because as well as the Awards it forms the foundation for the ABIA Accreditation system. This system has been set in place to ensure high quality service amongst bridal suppliers and to provide brides with an easy means of determining who the quality businesses are via the ABIA Accreditation logos. Both the ABIA Awards & Accreditation logos provide the bridal industry with a means of recognising the highest rated wedding suppliers as determined by brides. We provide future brides with information on who the highest rated wedding suppliers are in each state via the ABIA Advertising division. Via ABIA Advertising we are able to provide ABIA Suppliers with cost effective advertising initiatives to help them grow and improve their business. How Do We Protect the Bridal Customer & Promote the Bridal Supplier? We make it easy to distinguish high quality suppliers Willing suppliers can be inducted into a 3 year Accreditation Program, with 4 levels of Accreditation based on qualification criteria. The whole system is based on bridal feedback and businesses cannot progress to higher levels of Accreditation unless the service they provide is of a very high quality and standard. The standards are not determined by ABIA but by the only people who are really qualified to report on them - the brides and grooms. The ABIA Accreditation Logos are our way of showing the bridal customer the businesses that we know have provided quality service in the past. That is not to say that businesses who do not display the ABIA Accreditation Logos are not high quality businesses, we may not know anything about those businesses, but we do know about the ones who do display the ABIA Logo. With the multitude of wedding supplier services available we aim to make the selection process a little simpler and a lot safer so that you can relax and enjoy what should be an enjoyable and exciting planning process leading up to the Big Day. We put ourselves out there By advertising in over 20 bridal magazine titles around the country, we are working to ensure brides are aware of ABIA as a planning resource. Our new online ABIA Directory will make it easier for future brides to determine the best wedding suppliers in each category - with detailed information about Accreditation Level, Bridal Rating and Awards Status over the last 5 years. All Bridal Suppliers are invited to be listed, and rated, in the ABIA Directory. If your business is not listed then you can inform us by filling in the Supplier Registration Form. All Brides are invited to vote for their wedding suppliers. If you want to vote for your suppliers you can get the process started by filling in the Nominate Suppliers Form. We will soon be found at wedding expos in each state providing us with the opportunity to meet future brides and educate them about the ABIA Brand on a much more personal level. We also plan to hold business seminars around the country to educate wedding suppliers on how to increase the promotion of their wedding products & services through more efficient, effective and economical marketing programs.

Queensland Bridal Suppliers excel at the 2010 Annual Bridal Industry Awards

Tuesday, 17th August 2010 Over 300 of Queensland's finest wedding suppliers congregated at the Royal on the Park Hotel to celebrate the 12th Queensland Annual Bridal Industry Awards (The ABIA's). A total of 1,570 wedding suppliers competed for this year's prestigious ABIA Awards, culminating in 489 finalists, across 40 wedding categories, all of whom competed for the title of Queensland's No 1 wedding supplier. This year's Queensland ABIA Awards was one of the most exciting ever with many suppliers receiving a rating in excess of 99% out of a possible 100 points. The Marriage Celebrant & Photography categories were one of the closest fought contests ever, with 13 Marriage Celebrants and 11 Photographers receiving a rating of 99% or more. The Chairman of the Australian Bridal Industry Academy, Mr. John O' Meara addressed the guests and congratulated all the finalists on their ability to design and deliver the brides dream of the perfect day. Congratulations to all winners & finalists and thank you to all the Queensland brides for making the 2010 Queensland ABIA Awards such an enjoyable success.

ABIA Celebrates the Exceptional Quality Achievement of Victorian Bridal Suppliers at the 2010 Annual

Thursday, 8th July 2010 The 2010 Victorian Bridal Industry Awards were held in Melbourne on Tuesday evening to recognise and reward the highest quality suppliers in the bridal industry as voted by brides. This year's Awards were the biggest and best yet. Held in the grand ballroom of the beautiful, newly renovated reception venue, Leonda by the Yarra, musical entertainment was provided throughout the evening by the talented award winning Citrus Band. The guests enjoyed an evening of excitement and anticipation as finalists for each category were narrowed down to the top 10, top 5, top 3 and finally culminated in the announcement of each happy winner. The winners of each of the 37 categories were selected from a total of 1,127 nominated Victorian wedding suppliers. All of the winners and finalists are displayed in the ABIA directory. Congratulations to all winners & finalists and thank you to the venue, the band and all of our guests for making the 2010 Victorian ABIA Awards such an enjoyable success.

The 2009 ABIA National Designer of Dreams Awards

Wednesday, 9th June This year marks the 2nd Anniversary of the National Designer of Dreams Awards in the Australian Bridal Industry. Over 5,000 wedding suppliers were rated each year over a 4 year period from 2006 to 2009. Over 20,000 brides have given their feedback on the bridal suppliers they have used to service their Dream Wedding Day! The 2nd National Designer of Dreams Awards have been created to elevate the reputation, prestige and consistency of excellence achieved by Australia's Top Bridal Suppliers. ABIA Launches the Western Australian Annual Bridal Industry Awards

Friday, 5 March 2010 Western Australian wedding suppliers are about to be taken to a whole new level with the announcement that ABIA, Australia's most prestigious wedding organisation is launching the Western Australian Annual Bridal Industry Awards. Over 35,000 wedding suppliers have been nominated for these prestigious industry awards in the eastern states by over 50,000 past brides who have rated each wedding suppliers' product, service, value for money and attitude of staff. Wedding suppliers in WA will now have the opportunity to register their brides on the ABIA website inviting them to vote for their services. The ABIA voting system will provide wedding suppliers with a system for measuring quality and recognition for those who achieve excellence. At the same time brides in WA will benefit greatly from the ABIA Accreditation System enabling them to choose quality suppliers based on the feedback of those brides who have used the services before them. ABIA Announces New State & National Awards Dates

Wednesday, 3 March 2010 The ABIA Awards are open to all bridal suppliers who have been nominated by past brides. In line with the re-branding of ABIA a new schedule for each of the ABIA State Awards is being introduced in 2010. By 2011, all ABIA State Awards will be held in October, November and December followed by the announcement of the ABIA National Awards in January. To achieve this outcome, the 2010 ABIA Awards will move as follows: * Victorian Awards from April to July 2010 * Queensland ABIA Awards from May to August 2010 * Western Australia ABIA Awards will be held for the first time in September 2010 * South Australia ABIA Awards will stay the same and be held in October 2010 * NSW ABIA Awards will be held in December 2010 In 2011: * Victorian and Queensland Awards will be held in October * Western Australia and South Australian Awards will be held in November * NSW Awards will be held in December * The National Awards will be announced the following month in January 2012

South Australian Bridal Suppliers celebrate excellence at the 2010 Annual Bridal Industry Awards

Tuesday, 12th October 2010 A big thank you to the 1,173 South Australian brides who cast their ratings for the 505 South Australian Bridal suppliers they used to service their wedding day. This feedback was used to determine the 213 suppliers who qualified as finalists for the 10th South Australian Annual Bridal Industry Awards. To determine the nominees and finalists, the brides were asked to give scores out of 100 for the quality of product, quality of service, value for money and attitude of the staff of those suppliers who serviced the needs of the bride before, during and after her wedding day. Less than 1% separated the runners up from the winners in 24 of the 34 Award categories, making the 2010 South Australian ABIA Awards the tightest contest in 10 years. The tension, excitement and expectations could be felt throughout the magnificent Donato Reception Centre as the Top 20, Top 10, Top 5, Top 3 and finally the No 1 wedding supplier across the 34 wedding categories was announced. The Chairman of the Academy Mr John O' Meara congratulated all of the winners on their magnificent achievement and consoled those who missed out on the big win by such tight margins. Mr O' Meara went on to say that all of the winners & finalists should be extremely proud of the work and dedication that each supplier put into delivering the brides dream of the perfect day.
